This is an important notice from Aqua sent 09-03-2024 to customers in Philo Illinois.
Aqua will be flushing the distribution system in your area beginning 09-03-2024 and ending 09-04-2024, from approximately 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Flushing fire hydrants washes away naturally occurring minerals that might have deposited on the insides of pipes over time and ensures proper operation of the fire hydrants. The natural minerals are not unsafe, but they can cause water to be discolored.
During the flushing program, customers may experience decreased water pressure or temporary water discoloration as it cleans out the pipes. Please be mindful of the possible water discoloration when doing laundry.
After we flush the system, we recommend that you consider removing and cleaning the aerators on your faucets. We also suggest that you flush your water line by running the outside spigot for a few minutes to help purge any sediment before entering your household plumbing. If you have not done so recently, we recommend you flush your water heater in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
