Hi all,
I’m Michael “Drifter” Griffin, team Captain, of the 1860 Summit Station Signalmen Vintage Base Ball Club in Philo. We are hosting a double header against the Springfield Long Nine Sunday August 29th at Noon and 2PM. All are welcome to attend this spirited match among the friends of these two teams.
Where: The corner of Washington and Cleveland Streets in Philo (about the 500 block east Washington.
When: Sunday the 29th of August at noon and 2PM
Bring lawn chairs
Brien’s Bistro food truck on hand with GREAT servings.
Portable restrooms on site
As per Vintage rules, there’s no swearing, no spitting, and no sliding, so this is kid friendly.
COME OUT AND WATCH THE CRAZY ANTICS OF BARE HANDED BASE BALL (yes, two words in 1860) REENACTED AS IT WAS IN 1860. THIS EVENT IS TO PROMOTE THIS NEW TEAM TO THE VANTAGE LEAGUE AND RECRUIT NEW PLAYERS. IT’S IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THIS IS STRICTLY NON COMPETITIVE AND OPEN TO ALL. THIS TEAM DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE AT ALL. IF THAT’S A PROBLEM, THIS ISN’T THE TEAM FOR YOU. OUR GOAL IS TO HAVE FUN AND ENTERTAIN CROWDS. I ENCOURAGE ANYONE INTERESTED IN PLAYING TO CONTACT ME PRIVATELY FOR MORE INFORMATION.
~~I am so very pleased to announce that after 3 long years of painstaking work I have FINALLY established a new Vintage Base Ball Club. The Summit Station Signalmen will kick off their very first season on Memorial Day weekend, May 2022. There’s still a lot of work to do over the fall and winter but I HAVE A TEAM. I’m so very excited and truly thankful to all those who encouraged me and offered so much advice and friendship along the way. This league is totally AWESOME.~~
